We’re incredibly grateful to Emma Thompson for taking the time to support the Prince of Wales Pier Harbour Appeal during her visit to the village.

Prince of Wales Pier Appeal

Despite a busy filming schedule for an upcoming TV series, Emma was kind enough to step away from the set and brave the elements to chat with us and record this special message. Her support means so much to our community as we work to preserve and restore this important local landmark.

Apologies for the sound quality—we battled some classic British weather! But we hope you enjoy the video and appreciate Emma’s generosity as much as we do.

Hello, hello all Polperrans, and also people who, like me, love Polperro with all their hearts.

It’s my first time here, and I’ve been filming here. I’ve been here for two weeks with a community who are just amazing, and I am speaking to you as someone who wants to help the harbour appeal…

This harbour needs to be rebuilt, and we need money, and we’re nearly there, but we need more, and we…

You see the weather—that’s only going to get worse because of climate change—so we absolutely need this extraordinary place, which really should be a World Heritage Site, but it should be, to be protected.

So, if you love Polperro, and love it as much as I do, please help the harbour appeal. I will be doing so, of course, and help to save this incredible, beautiful, extraordinary place, filled with such wonderful people.

Thank you.
